Vermont-NEA Mini-Grants Awarded

Thanks to all the individuals and groups who submitted grants this fall.  We received double the amount of grants that could be funded, and they were all creative and focused on topics that directly impact the students we teach.

The Fall 2014 Awards:

  1. “Dream Out of the Box”- Nicolas Mack- J.J. Flynn school in Burlington
  2. “Student Films:  Civic Engagement, Community Partnerships, and Authentic Audiences” – Timothy O’Leary- Middlebury Union High School
  3. “Genius Hour Project” – Kyle Chadburn, Joann Martin- Brownington Central School
  4. “Library Makerspace” – Heidi Webster, Linda Horn, Jamie Gallagher, Rachel Valcour, Christian Stevens, Mariah Freemole – Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union
  5. “Pizza Oven and Pavilion”- Keenan Haley, Paul Sadowski, Dulce O'Hare – Sharon Elementary
  6. “Legal Aspects of School Nursing in 2015” - Legal Aspects of School Nursing in 2015-Betty Stuart, Paula Crossett – Williamston Middle/High School, Orange Center, Washington Village Schools
  7. “Career Interest” - Peggy Wilson, Rebecca Sausville Smith – Mount Anthony Union Middle School
  8. “Mosaic Volunteers” – Simone Lagasse- Mount Anthony Union Middle School

Members of the Vermont-NEA Professional Development Committee “blind” read and scored each entry.  All the entries submitted were worthy of funding and we encourage those who did not receive a grant to reapply in the spring.  The spring Mini-Grant will be available in January for submissions and will be due February 15, 2015.
