Raise Your Hand if You've Had Enough of Standardized Testing

When Vermont agreed to join the Common Core State Standards movement, most educators here embraced tougher, more relevant standards. They did not embrace yet another excuse to impose a standardized testing regimen that places testing above teaching. On April 2, as part of NEA’s Day of Action for Great Public Schools, Vermont-NEA President Martha Allen announced that delegates to the RA on Saturday will be asked to stand up for teaching. Delegates will vote on a resolution that reaffirms your association’s support of Common Core, but calls for a drastic reduction in the amount of high-stakes testing currently endorsed by national education officials. You can see the petition here.
