Six Vermont NBCTs Renew their National Board Certification

Today is National Board Certification Day where new NBCTs and NBCT Renewals are celebrated.  Vermont has had 138 NBCTs to date.  This year, there were no new NBCTs, but six teachers successfully renewed their certification, which lasts for ten years.  Each NBCT completed a portfolio with four components. The components demonstrated their success in meeting the NBPTS standards, which are the highest standards for teaching in the country.  Vermont-NEA congratulates Deborah Thomsen-Taylor (Williston Central School), Kristina Hansen (Mount Anthony High School), Laura King (Rutland Northeast), Laura Michaelides (Mount Mansfield Union High School), Leigh Petrucelli (Shelburne Community School) and Melissa Kristiansen (Poultney).

This year 21 teachers have begun the journey towards National Board Certification, using the newly revised process.  If you are interested in learning more about National Board Certification, visit www.boardcertifiedteachers.org or contact Juliette Longchamp at [email protected].
